Canon Powershot SX30 IS: the new King of the bridge cameras ?

When Fujifilm launched their FinePix HS10, I could not resist calling it the king of the bridge cameras because it had an exceptional (at the time) 30X zoom lens, and many other interesting features like full HD video. To better this camera, Canon has launched the Powershot SX30 IS with a 35X zoom lens  starting from 24 mm and going up to 840 mm! What’s interesting with this lens is that it uses the same elements used to build the Canon’s high quality EF lenses used by professional photographers.

How to reduce Firefox’s memory footprint ?

After using IE for several years, I switched to Firefox when I learnt about extensions. I enjoy using Firefox and I can’t imagine going back to IE or using any other browser unless they offer the same extensions that I currently use. For my research projects, I sometime have to open sessions with several tens of tabs. But there is a drawback: Firefox is a devourer of memory.

Fujifilm’s new F300EXR Super zoom compact digital camera.

Fujifilm has announced the F300EXR, a new compact super zoom digital camera with a 15x optical stabilized zoom, a 12 megapixel, ½ Super CCD EXR second generation sensor, a new Hybrid Auto-Focus System (Contrast AF and Phase Detection AF), HD video, and manual control.

Fujifilm launches the king of bridge cameras !

The SLR style Fujifilm FinePix HS10 super zoom has a 10 megapixel back-illuminated CMOS sensor, a 30X (24 – 720 mm) zoom lens with sensor shift image stabilization, manual zoom and focus ring, raw image format, HD movie with stereo audio recording and a tilting LCD screen. This will surely turn the head of future DSLR buyers.

Canon PowerShot SX20 IS super zoom camera.

Canon has introduced the PowerShot SX20 IS, a long zoom bridge camera, as the successor of the PowerShot SX10. Based on the specifications, the new model seems to combine the good image quality of the camera it replaces and the HD video recording capability of the PowerShot SX1 while upping the resolution to 12.1 megapixels.

A 128 GB USB flash drive from Kingston.

DataTraveler 200 is a cap-less USB flash drive that has been just announced by Kingston Technology. The flash drive will be available in various capacity: 32GB, 64GB and 128GB and features a built in Password protection software for data protection.

The first netbook with Android OS comes from China.

A Chinese company has launched the first netbook with Google’s Android OS. The Alpha 680 is based on the ARM11 533 Mhz processor and comes with a 7 inch rotating  screen, 128 MB of RAM and 1GB of storage.

Ericsson unveils a 500 Mbps broadband over copper!

Based on Vectorized VDSL2 technology, the broadband line showed by Ericsson can reach speeds of 500 Mbps using six copper lines over 500 meters. The speed is 20 times faster that the ADSL2+ that is widely used for internet connection.
