Developers in India have announced the demonstration of a mobile computer that will cost $10 only when mass produced.
The mobile computer is the work of students from Vellore Institute of Technology, scientists in Indian Institute of Science, IIT-Madras and some private companies.
The specifications of the notebook were not disclosed but it is thought that it will have 2GB of memory and will be powered by Linux.
“At this stage, the price is working out to be $20 but with mass production it is bound to come down,” R P Agarwal, secretary, higher education said.
