BYD, a company mostly known for supplying batteries to the mobile phone makers, has recently acquired vehicles manufacturing plants thus becoming China’s youngest automaker. They are also the first to launch China’s first mass produced hybrid electric car, the BYD F3DM.

Tata Motors, world’s fifth largest commercial auto maker, unveiled plans to introduce the electric version of Indica passenger car, the Indica EV. The car will be introduced in Norway in 2009 and a year later in India.

A wind turbine, from 100% recycled material, has been created by a product design student at the University of Portsmouth. Aimed at the developing countries, the turbine can be built by unskilled workers in less than a day.
