Sony has introduced a 12.25 megapixel sensor to be used on mobile phone cameras from early next year. The sensor is based on CMOS technology and has a optical size of 1/2.5 inch.

Canon has announced the successor to the popular Canon G9 digital camera. The PowerShot G10 features a 14.7 Megapixel sensor and is the first G-series camera to offer wide-angle imaging via a 5x (28mm) zoom with optical Image Stabilizer.

The electronics giant has announced plans to introduce a new hybrid digital camera system, in Spring 2010, that will be a cross breed between a digital SLR and a bridge camera.

Canon has, today, announced a replacement for the popular ultra zoom PowerShot SX 100 IS digital camera. Main improvements over the previous version include a higher resolution image sensor, a slimmer body and a 3.0” LCD.
