100Mbps wireless transmission using white LED.

A Japanese company, Taiyo Yuden Co Ltd, has shown a high-speed wireless communication system that utilizes a white LED at CEATEC JAPAN 2008.
Taiyo Yuden said that the system features an Ethernet interface and uses a phosphor based white LED, and is capable of a full-duplex communication at a maximum data transmission speed of 100Mbps. Its effective data transmission speed is about 90Mbps with a transmission distance of about 20cm.
According to the company, the system has the following advantages:
- Its communication path is visible so that users can easily notice the communication
- Its communication is not regulated by any radio law
- It can use a general-purpose LED and
- It does not require a color filter.
