Sony has introduced a 12.25 megapixel sensor to be used on mobile phone cameras from early next year. The sensor is based on CMOS technology and has a optical size of 1/2.5 inch.
Sony is said to have improved the sensitivity of the sensor by adopting a Cu process and improving the pixel structure.
Further more Sony has minimized image degradation by using an A/D conversion method called “column-parallel” which allows a better S/N ratio and video signals of 10 frames per seconds.
The company will also commercialise two camera modules, complete with built in autofocus lens, with a resolution of 12.25 Megapixel and 8.11 Megapixel.
